My mom loves the fact that mom is wow upside down. She used to tell us that mom=wow all the time when I was a kid, and even now she signs emails to me as mom wow.
No moms or aunts past this point please!
Because my mom is mom wow, I wanted to give her something special to commemorate my wedding day.
I previously blogged about the handkerchief I made for my FSIL. Her handkerchief is actually the first of four that I want to make. My original thought was to make three handkerchiefs for my wedding day. They would be for the three people who will probably appreciate them the most. These three are also the most likely to need a tissue. The first one is going to my mom.
I bought a six pack of men's handkerchiefs at Target. Men's handkerchiefs are HUGE. I took about 2 inches off of each side. The cream and green colors are my wedding colors, and pansies are her favorite flower. I wrote the pattern on a piece of paper first. Then traced the pattern on to the handkerchief. The leaf design was traced from an embroidery book, but the rest of the design I wrote/drawled by myself. As you can probably tell, I pretty proud of this handkerchief.
I crocheted the border with a size 9 hook and 30 thread. My favorite website to get crochet patterns from is www.mypicot.com. The have great patterns. Its an organized website, and the have instructions for their diagrams.
Did you get a chance to hand make something for someone special in your life?
