I know I just posted the first part of my errands earlier today, but I couldn't wait to tell you about my next stop. I went to a Jewelery repair shop! I wanted to get my Great Aunt's necklace examined.
As you can see its a cameo necklace. I never saw my Great Aunt without this necklace on. It was given to me after she past away, and no one in my family knows if it is real or what the story behind the necklace is.
I really want to wear this for my wedding day but wearing it as a necklace would be too much for my dress. So, I took it into Lisa Esztergalyos's jewelery repair shop to get an estimate about putting a pin on the back of it. Remember my hair inspiration picture?
I think my Aunt's cameo would be a great replacement for the pendent in the picture above. So I took the necklace in to get an estimate on how much and how hard it would be to put a pin on the back. I also want the prongs to be tightened (so it doesn't fall out during the wedding), and I want to find out if it is possible to replace the missing piece on the frame. Its not obvious with the picture I took, but a piece of the frame leaf design is missing.
Lisa said the prongs and pin back would be no problem, but she is not sure if the missing piece will be able to be fixed. Lisa was so nice, helpful, and excited about my idea. I have to wait until next week to get the final estimates, but I'm really glad I choice to visit her.
I'm so excited that I get to wear a family heirloom on my wedding day!
Do you have any family heirlooms you are wearing on your wedding?
