Our Engagement Photo Album

Sally has a hundred pictures from her engagement photo session. She is unsure of the best way to showcase these pictures. She would like to have as many pictures seen by as many people as she can. Should she...
A. Send out a number of different pictures with her wedding invitations
B. Make a photo album to display on her coffee table filled with engagement pictures
C. Make a photo album to display at the reception filled with engagement pictures
D. Carry all of the pictures around in her purse in the hopes that the engagement pictures will come up in conversation

My answer is...
D.
Just kidding its C. I loved the idea of having a photo album with engagement pictures at the reception since the moment I heard it. I thought it would be a great way for people to see all of the pictures, and it would add another activity to the cocktail hour.

Now the hard part, what kind of album do I want to display? I could go with the very popular blurb or another Internet company's professional albums.
You can make it yourself and they look so professional.

Another option for the professional look is to have someone else make the album. Many photographers offer to make photo albums of the pictures that they take. Like the one below.
Those two options look so perfect. They should be books of art! However, my style is a little more old school/DIY.

Something like this would be right up my alley.
They might be more fragile and harder to work with, but I remember flipping through family albums similar to these. All the black and white pictures and fragile placings made me fell like I was looking at important history. If I wasn't careful with those albums, all the history could easily be damage, ruined, or lost forever.

Then again I might want something I could leave out after the wedding to look at. I love the details in this wooden photo album.
No doubt it would hold up to any wear and tear during the wedding.

I could also do something handmade. I really enjoyed the Japanese stab binding technique Mrs. Piglet used for her programs.

I also really like the idea of incorporating the invitations into an embroidery design for the album.

The above albums aren't my invitation designs. I just wanted to show an example of embroidered albums.

Now I just have to figure out which would be the best option.

Which photo album is your favorite? Did you plan to show off your engagement pictures at your wedding?

  1. What about a slide show playing at the reception? I saw it on a tv show and it was super cute--they had a giant screen behind the head table and it was playing throughout the event.. Just an idea! =)

  2. Wow! Through the whole reception? Maybe if I went that route I would just have to get the pictures together. Then have have Mr. Camrah do all the computer stuff. :) I'll have to keep it in mind.
