Wear the Purple and the Gold?

After Mr. Camrah proposed, I was in shock. We had not previously discussed getting engaged probably because I wasn't ready to. I thought that we had another year or two before we would be thinking about engagement. I took the rest of the night to process. The next day, I told my co-worker. Sometimes it just helps to tell someone, and I think that it made everything more real for me. I started to call friend later that.

Ideas for the actually wedding day started to form a few days later. Images of colors started to float into my mind. I went through several ideas and flip flopped like almost everybody does. I gave a teaser of my color scheme in my first post.

Our engagement happened right before Christmas, and we had already planned a trip to visit both families for the holidays (Mr. Camrah is a sneaky one and had it all planned out).
We went to Portland first and spent Christmas with my family. I told everyone that we were engaged the day after Christmas (I didn't want to take away from a day that should be about everyone). I'm not usually one to supply information unless asked, and I wanted to give them some time to process before wedding planning conversations started. Then out of no where on our last day in Portland my aunt says, "So, wedding plans?"

At this point all I had thought about was the colors, and before I could even answer, my aunt suggested purple and gold for our wedding colors.

Your probably saying to yourself, "Where did that idea come from?" Well, my uncle is a HUGE University of Washington Huskies fan, and purple and gold are the school colors. He turned his whole family into husky fans including my aunt. Mr. Camrah and I attended and meet at UDub. So, purple and gold made complete sense. I, however, politely declined because those colors were a little extravagant for me.

My initial thought was to have cream/champagne with either leafy/emerald green or a shade of blue. I think blue comes in so many gorgeous shades that I couldn't help thinking about it.

Blue was so versatile. I had multiple shades that I liked and could use. I initially thought the color should be based on the bridesmaid dresses and what looked best with them. However, I think that my green image was holding a special place. Blue might have been easier in some ways (my sister/MOH was all about the blue), but I kept seeing images of this.
You can't help but love the glamor in the deep green. I'm totally in love with vintage. Plus, I'm half Irish, and we celebrate it in my family. This green is another shout out to the land of 10,000 shades of green. As an added bonus, a few months later I was surfing the Internet and searched emerald dresses. This popped up.
I initially wanted my mom to make the dresses (as her wedding present to me), but these are pretty great. I want the glamor, but I didn't want full length dresses. This dress has a mix of both, and MOH already approved of the dress. Yeah!

Did other people suggest colors for you. Did you go with your gut decision on anything even if the other choice might have been easier?

Things can still change, but I think the emerald green is here to stay.
