Who knew you could be so excited for a little piece of tulle?

I might have been tracking the shipping of my veil all week. It might also have come in yesterday, and I might have left work early (don't worry I had overtime racked up) in order to get in some pictures before Mr. Camrah came home.

I decided to buy an elbow length, drop veil from the veilshop.com. I got the champagne colored tulle (described as a creamy version of their light ivory) and decided on the cut edge without any extra detailing. I probably could have made the veil myself for cheaper, but I was worried that I wouldn't be able to cut the edge exactly straight. I decided a straight edge is more important then saving a few extra bucks, and at $26 with tax and shipping, my veil wasn't really expensive anyways. Here she is. (Excuse the crummy lighting; the sun had already set for the day.)

One Layer

Two Layer (folded in half)
The edge of my veil should hit at a perfect spot between the layers of my dress. Now I have a hard decision to make. Do I want to add anything to my veil? On the one hand, my dress already has a lot of lace, and I don't want my veil and dress to compete in any way. But on the other hand, I love the veils that have a little bit of lace edging. I was thinking of crocheting an edging for my veil that would be close to design of my garter.
Here is my garter with my veil. The holes with the ribbon through them in the design above won't be as big for the veil, but the veil design should be pretty similar to the garter besides that. The only other difference would be the color. I used ecru color thread for my garter. It is the only off-white color for this kind of thread that I could find, but it was way too dark when I compared it to my dress. When my sister saw it, she suggested bleaching it. I figured it wasn't that big of a deal for my garter, but doing a veil edging in ecru is definitely out. If I decide to do the veil edging, I will have to use white thread. Then tea stain (or use another technique) to get it to an ivory color.
The thread on the left is white and the little one on the right is the ecru. The garter and veil are both in ivory.

Would you add the crochet edging to the veil? Or do you think it might be too much and compete with the dress? Has anyone else had any concerns about their dress and veil coexisting?
